Each November, the oldest fort in the USA is held under siege by an army of refugees. Volunteers hand out hot drinks to mitigate the effects of the cold, late autumn air. The refugees seek out a quiet corner to reflect on the uncertainty that the immediate future holds.

My son, aged 10, was keen to take part in the Ipswich 2006 Run for the Children event. He persuaded me and my daughter to take part. Despite our initial reluctance and various problems along the way, we finished the run, enjoyed it and can't wait until next year.
