You’ve heard of the Marathon du Medoc. Meet the Marathon du Malton. Billed as the ‘Britain’s tastiest 10K’, the event, which takes place on Sunday 25 August, boasts the finest aid stations known to man. Gorge yourself on award-winning food and drink as you make your way (slowly) around this picturesque route in Malton, Yorkshire’s food capital.

Unsurprisingly, the event takes its inspiration from the Marathon du Medoc in France, which ditches the Lucozade for mid-run wine and cheese. However, while Medoc showcases the finest French cuisine, Malton celebrates the very best food and drink Yorkshire has to offer.

At intervals along the route will be treats from local producers, such as award-winning beer from Brass Castle Brewery, macarons baked by Malton-based Florian Poirot, and mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef from Malton Cooker School. To get into the spirit of things, participants are encouraged to wear fancy dressed based around a food and drink theme.

Tom Naylor-Leyland, Visit Malton Director, said: ‘The Marathon Du Malton brings a real party atmosphere to town, with groups of all ages in fancy dress taking part in this really fun event inspired by the original Marathon Du Medoc. All the family will be able to get involved, from crowd support along the route to picnicking by the finish line in the Market Place.

‘What better way to celebrate the best of Malton’s food and drink offerings while having the chance to take in some of the stunning local countryside and balancing the treats with exercise, but overall, plenty of laughter. We’ve increased the capacity this year and tickets are already selling like hot cakes.’

Tickets, which include all the food and drink on the course, and cost £25, plus booking fee.
