Award-winning comedian and TV presenter Romesh Ranganathan made his London Marathon debut. He has been a patron of Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) since October 2023, and was running in support of the mental health helpline charity.

Here’s what Ranganathan had to say: 'The support both on the sidelines and online has been unbelievable. Thank you to every single person who has donated, sent support or shouted at me from the roadside. It was very much appreciated. Most importantly, I think we’ve really raised awareness for Calm Zone and the life-saving work they do.'

Actor Phil Dunster, who played Jamie Tartt in the hit sports comedy-drama Ted Lasso, took on his first London Marathon for Young Lives vs Cancer, supporting a cause close to his heart. His cousin’s son, Rory, was diagnosed with a brain tumour aged just four months old and the charity helped his family throughout Rory’s illness. Before the race, Dunster said he was 'equal parts excited and terrified' to be taking on the big 26.2 and praised the work Young People vs Cancer do.

I’m sorry your sadness brought us to this day; but your spirit lives in us the most precious way. This pain is temporary, just wish yours hadn’t been so final.'

The football manager, best known for his recent stint at Millwall, laced up his trainers to run London for the fourth time. Rowett describes marathon running as 'a great way to bring yourself down to earth.' He ran Rome Marathon in March, clocking a time of 03:46:16, which makes 3:41 at London a big PB.

Joshua Patterson is no stranger to the marathon having broken the record of running one in every 76 UK cities in 76 days, and recently completing the LA Marathon. However, this was the Made in Chelsea star turned ultra-athlete's first London Marathon, which he ran for the Samaritans.

Patterson ran alongside friend Milly Pickes, who lost her leg in an accident. He said: 'For the past several months I have supported and seen the progress, struggle, and determination Milly has been through to step foot on that start line. Before this marathon the furthest she has run was a half marathon, having spent some time back in the wheelchair due to her physical health. She overcame the hurdle and today ran her first marathon.'

Swapping the Aston Martin for his running trainers, British racing driver Darren Turner ran in aid of cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow. And it looks like he translated some of his speed on the racing track to the roads of London.
